Overview

Over the course of two action-packed weeks, interns are introduced to the core concepts of geoinformatics and location intelligence. Guided by industry experts, you will transition from a novice to a confident software user. The program covers everything from basic map creation and spatial data digitization to foundational geospatial analysis, empowering you to understand and visualize real-world environmental, urban, and geographic challenges. Because it is NEP-aligned, this internship seamlessly bridges the gap between traditional classroom education and practical, industry-ready skill development.

Module / Subject	What You Will Learn
📍 SEMESTER I — FOUNDATIONS
GIS Fundamentals & Geospatial Data	Core concepts of GIS, spatial data models, coordinate systems, and essential mapping principles using ArcGIS and QGIS.
Advanced Remote Sensing & Image Analysis	Satellite imagery interpretation, digital image processing techniques, and supervised/unsupervised classification methods.
Spatial Data Acquisition & Management	Collect, prepare, and manage geospatial data including GPS integration, digitization, and geodatabase management.
📍 SEMESTER II — ADVANCED TOOLS & ANALYSIS
Advanced Spatial Analysis & Modeling	Complex geoprocessing, network analysis, terrain modeling, hydrological analysis, and spatial problem-solving workflows.
Digital Photogrammetry & LiDAR	Create 3D models from aerial imagery, process LiDAR point clouds, and generate high-precision DTMs and DSMs.
Drone Mapping & UAV Photogrammetry	Plan drone-based surveys, fly missions, and process UAV imagery into orthomosaics and 3D models using Pix4D and DJI Terra.
📍 SEMESTER III — APPLICATIONS & PROJECT
Geospatial Applications (Agriculture, Forestry, Disaster)	Apply GIS and RS to crop monitoring, forest mapping, flood zone analysis, urban land use classification, and disaster risk assessment.
GNSS & Field Survey Methods	GPS/GNSS data collection, DGPS techniques, total station surveying, and field-to-GIS data pipelines.
Pilot Project / Dissertation	Independent research or industry project applying all learned skills. Mentored by GRED faculty and industry experts.

Academic Qualification

Bachelor's degree in any discipline (B.Sc, B.Tech, B.A, B.Com)
Minimum 50% aggregate in graduation
Geography / Science / Engineering preferred
Final-year students may apply provisionally
